Class Overview
Growing in tough, high-pH alkaline desert soils presents unique challenges—from nutrient lockouts to low organic matter. This hands-on, in-person workshop at 4 Legged Farm breaks down practical, regenerative soil management strategies designed specifically for arid and semi-arid environments. Learn how to work with your land instead of fighting it by building living, resilient soil using organic amendments, targeted microbial inputs, and natural soil-building techniques.
Key Learning Objectives
- Budget: We will cover zero cost items as well as items that dent the pocketbook.
- Decoding Your Soils: Understand what you have and formulate a plan on moving forward.
- The Power of Organic Amendments: Discover which soil amendments actually work in dryland conditions, from composts and biochar to specialized organic amendments.
- Soil Mixture Evaluation: We will informally evaluate the mixture that we just created.
- Feeding the New Soil: Hands-on insights into protecting and nurturing the new soil mixture.
